UCLA

Dorm food surprised me the most.  There was pretty great food there, like freshly made pasta, pizza and unlimited ice cream!  I used to think that dorm food was gross, just like the food in high school.  But it felt like I was eating out every meal! Not only that, I was able to walk to ______ for a bigger variety of food there.  Besides the food, I was mainly there to understand what field I would like to pursue in the medical field.  This was an 8 day camp, where we had a busy agenda, leaning more and more about careers in the medical field.  I was able to visit hospitals nearby and was introduced to their simulations.  Also, I got to ask the panel of med students from UCR questions about their experiences and advice.  I even got to watch a live open knee surgery, which was pretty nasty but cool at the same time.  Overall, I had a great time and met so many people from around the world during this experience.

Laguna Beach

Did you guys know that there aren’t literally 1,000 steps at Thousand Steps Beach in Laguna Beach?  Walking down the 220 steps was definitely worth it.  My friend and I were ready to face the 105 degrees heat at the beach.  When we finally got to the bottom at the beach, the sand was burning so we ran to put our stuff down and put our feet in the water.  Then my friend took out a blue bag looking thing that she blew up into a giant beach couch!  It was really cool and super comfy to lie on.  After we tanned and took a ton of pictures, we got hungry and ate at “Slapfish” where I got a crab and lobster grilled cheese.  It was THE BEST grilled cheese I have ever tasted.  And after that, we went to “Dolce Gelato” were we ate coconut ash flavored gelato that made both our mouths entirely black.

San Diego

It’s summer 2018 and I started off with basketball practices at 5:45 AM on day one.  But, basketball is more fun than it sounds now.  We had a team bonding in San Diego! It was so much fun because besides the 4 games we played, there we paddle-boarded and ate really good food.  I even met a famous baseball player from San Diego, but we were at the event for the free food.  On top of that, we went to the beach and had THE BEST ribs at a place called “Bubba’s Smokehouse BBQ”.  Lastly, we enjoyed our team dinner and dessert at “ICE”, where I got rolled ube ice cream.

Our view while paddle boarding had beautiful city lights and even fireworks!
